This session will explore how to create a reflective, safe, and inclusive classroom community that supports rich dialogue about contemporary issues. Participants will examine the role of identity in community-building, learn strategies for facilitating respectful conversations, and explore foundational themes of genocide. Teachers will learn how to incorporate HMH Foundational Skill Lessons, Teacher’s Corner resources and HMH Fun with Word Games into their Tier 1 and Tier 2 instruction. This allows teachers to provide equity-focused MTSS structures in their classrooms. Teachers will get to practice using virtual and physical materials from the HMH literacy curriculum.
